Are the courses safe?

Yes! Apnea Education System International is built with safety as its foundation. All programs are taught by certified instructors, following proven freediving safety protocols. We teach risk management, equalization, and partner rescue from Day 1.

What gear do I need?

For most AESI courses, you’ll need basic freediving equipment including a mask, snorkel, and long-blade fins. A wetsuit appropriate for local water temperatures is highly recommended, along with a weight belt for buoyancy control during dives. While you are welcome to bring your own gear, most AESI training centers offer rental options or can help guide you on purchasing high-quality equipment suited to your level. If you’re unsure what to get, your instructor will advise you on the best choices for safety and comfort during training.

Is freediving suitable for kids?

Yes! Our “Little Mermaids Project” is a specialized pool-based freediving program for children aged 6–10 — created with the help of psychologists and swimming educators for safety and fun.

I have a disability — can I still freedive?

How can I become an AESI Instructor?

First, complete Level III, then enroll in our Instructor Course. Once certified, you’ll be qualified to teach all AESI levels, manage groups, and assist in instructor development.
